Golden Glassworks began as a kiln-formed glass studio, and it still is. The Bullseye Glass Procurement Program grew from our own need for better access to materials — not the other way around.
We don't coordinate Bullseye procurement because we're distributors. We coordinate it because we're artists who rely on the same materials.
Our work centres on kiln-formed glass, combining fusing, slumping, precision waterjet cutting and sandblasting to create sculptural and functional works from our Sydney studio.
Each process contributes something different. Fusing allows us to build colour and depth, slumping shapes the form, waterjet cutting gives us precision, and sandblasting creates the surface finish that ties a piece together.
We experienced the same challenge many artists do: importing Bullseye Glass independently is expensive, complicated and often impractical.
We first coordinated group orders for our own studio. Once the process proved successful, we opened it to other artists, studios and schools across New South Wales.
